INDIGO TEAM WAKE FIELD UK GRAMMAR SCHOOL VISIT
26/07/2011 We welcomed the second group to Monterosa on July 26th. Leadered by Steve and Candance, it was a very active and well organized group. They all did a great job building a the stone wall together with Johan Saico, our stone restorer friend. It was a great accomplishment!!
As the local road is getting paved a lot of forest are getting affected. We have been able to rescue many orchids that had no chance on their own since the expansion of the road had taken a high toll on them. They were all carefully removed and transported to Monterosa to be planted on the stone terraces to increase our orchid garden with several more species. Part of our activities were also the continues walks to birdwatch, see the site of Inkatambo which lies 30 minute walk from Monterosa and work in our tree nursery. Unfortunately we couldn’t accomplish the goal of making mud-bricks for the community as planned, basically is being hard for us to communicate efficiently with the members of the nearby community of Inkatambo, it will take time for us and a lot of talking to really change the way of seeing things by them, in the mean time we will just keep on trying. The Indigo Team also hiked their way to Machupicchu from Monterosa. Muchas gracias to you all specially to Alex and Ross.
